 The antenna may be suspended on a rope strung
 between two supports, from a tree or from a fishing pole. In the vertical
 position the antenna will be omnidirectional with vertical polarization
 but if supported at an angle of 45 degrees it will
 
 become directional, favouring the direction from the upper side. Pole fisherman
 will already have the ideal support but for those of us who need a fibreglass
 pole the following company is recommended as they undercut most fishing
 retailers and all the radio traders.

 3m long, starting at £3.99 each to 10m £28.99 . The one I bought at a Steam
 Rally cost £15.99. It is 1.16m (46") closed and extends to 7m (22.5ft).
 It weights just 650g (1lb 7oz). Each section pulls out and twists to lock
 it in place. Similar poles can be found in radio mags for £60 +pp.
